Please note that we are only expecting to make a few improvements to Archie for the moment. Our resources need to be focussed on advancing other critical projects, such as RevMan. Your suggestions are still very welcome and will be collected, but they are not likely to be implemented in the immediate future.

Tell us what you need.
Start with a short label and then a fuller description. If you can, try to include a ‘user story’ as the first line of the description. A user story is about clearly telling is who you are, what you want and why you need it.
Example: “As an author, I want to edit my review on my tablet, so I can finish it faster.”

How can we improve Archie?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

      Archie does very many things , and its technology is quite old in places. So whether you could learn anything of value really depends on what you want to do. But basically Archie is a “Web application programmed in Java EE.
      Running on JBoss/Wildfly application server
      Database: MS SQL Server”

    • Duplication of Cochrane accounts

      In the last weeks several of my existing authors have created themselves new accounts because of change of address, retirement etc.
      Can Cochrane add to the login page, beside SIGN UP NOW, something like: "Before you proceed, please check whether you already have a Cochrane or Archie account."

      • Funding arbiter access to all records, including COI forms

        The funding arbiters, and funding panel, are generally referred cases of potential financial conflict of interests, before protocols and reviews and updates are published. Currently the funding arbiter and panel have no special permissions, and so can only see published protocols and reviews on the library. This means there is often a lot of email traffic trying to understand issues, and to ascertain where in the publication process the case sits.         • Ability for CRGs to identify highlighted reviews

          As part of the Cochrane Library replatforming work with Wiley, we have a new functionality available to us. When users click on a browse heading, as well as getting all the reviews in that heading (in descending date order) and the ability to filter by browse sub-levels and other characteristics, there will also be a ‘featured’ or ‘highlighted’ review displayed at the top of the list. This can be set editorially to important reviews.

          We need a way for groups to nominate reviews they would like to feature. Groups could pick a review they would like to see appear, and…

          • Move the Archie new Feedback callout to the other side of the screen

            The new Feedback callout is partially covering the scrollbar of the Tasks section in the Organizer tab which makes it difficult to navigate through the tasks. It could be beneficial to the users if this callout could be placed on the other side of the screen or if the user could choose where to place it

            • Link in RevMan to the Style Guide is not precise and requires additional searches of the Training website

              Not an idea per se - but rather this is a problem when trying to find the style guide for guidance while editing a review in Archie/RevMan - difficult to find

              • Create a separate workflow role 'Consumer referee'

                As an ME a consumer referee role in workflows would help.
                1. UK groups have to report on the number of reviews that have been reviewed by a consumer. The workflows do not capture this information (as far as I can see)
                2. I would like to have a specific task email template for consumer referees with the consumer checklist and information attached.

                • LFPs and COI forms should record the number of reminders is sent to an author

                  This would be useful in cases where authors persistently, despite lots and lots of reminders, fail to complete forms. We are considering removing a protocol because two of the authors (one lead) have failed to complete the COI forms - we cannot mark their protocol for publication until they do so. It would be useful to be able to provide statistics to the authors to be able to support decisions: we sent you the form on so many occasions (and then provide the dates).

                      When using Resend of a task email, the message text will automatically include as first line:
                      “[This is a reminder email. The original was sent on DATE.]”
                      The inserted text can be modified before sending.

                      There should be a field for additional information after each source of support, for instance to indicate the period for which the support was/is given. E.g. Apotekerfonden af 1991 (provided for the period: 1997-1999), Denmark.

                        Having allocated stars to a group of reviews and protocols, some of these are now in my "Favourites" folder BUT the star does not show when viewing the Favourites folder.

                        Can this be done?

                          • Include registration/publication date in the body of task email

                            As someone who sends workflow task emails I want to be able to automatically include registration/publication dates in the body of the email, as our official deadlines are relative to these.

                            In workflow task email templates in the message tab I want to be able to select "registration date" in the insert field drop down box so that when we send our authors reminders they can see when their review was registered. See Renal Group task Protocol follow up task emails as an example

                            • Increase the number of attachments for workflow ticket templates

                              I have four documents I send to authors when they start to write their review.
                              1. PLEACS PDF. (From MECIR).
                              2. GRADE document (From CEU).
                              3. Table of common errors document (From CEU).
                              4. Author checklist (From ERC).
                              However I can only attach 3 docs to a workflow ticket. Can the number of attachment be increased please?

                                I should clarify that this only applies for the Templates – you can add more attachments when sending a ticket.

                                Update 29 July: We’ll increase the number of file attachments to five.
