RevMan

Please note:
We are currently rebuilding RevMan as ‘RevMan Web’. It is still important that you share your ideas, but please know that they will not be implemented in the near future.
Approved ideas that we can include in the first generation of RevMan Web will be tagged as ‘Planned’. Ideas that we cannot implement until the second generation will be tagged as ‘Planned – long term’.

Tell us what you need.
Start with a short label and then a fuller description. See if you can include a ‘user story’ as the first line of the description. A user story is about clearly telling is who you are, what you want and why you need it.
Example: “As an author, I want to edit my review on my tablet so I can finish it faster.”

How can we improve review editing?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

    • For DTA reviews, allow users to choose reference tests to display in risk of bias applicablity figures

At the moment, only the index tests can be selected for inclusion in the risk of bias and applicability figures in DTA reviews. For reviews in which the reference standard includes one of the index tests, could you allow for the insertion and display of more than one reference test in the risk of bias and applicability figures?

For followup, the review (in development) titled Serum amylase and lipase and urinary trypsinogen and amylase for diagnosis of acute pancreatitis prompted this request.

      • quality of evidence in forest plots

Risk of bias has recently been added to forest plots. However, now that GRADE quality assessment incorporates RoB and provides a better assessment of the evidence, it seems like it would be more useful to be able to display these assessments in the forest plots

        • Display percentages for dichotomous outcomes in forest plots

This would be very helpful in understanding absolute differences between effects in studies

          • Scale risk of bias indicators in Forest plot based on study weights

At the moment, the risk of bias indicators (high, low, unclear) can be shown beside a Forest plot. However, this visualisation can potentially give a false impression of risk. For example, most studies included in a Forest plot may have a low risk of bias but may have been assigned very low weights in the analysis. If a small number of the studies have uncertain or high risk of bias but are given most of the weight, visually the figure would seem to associate the pooled estimate primarily with low risk-of-bias studies despite the weighting favouring higher-risk studies.

            The suggestion…

            • increase number of decimals in statistical output of RevMan

As a statistician I would like to increase the number of decimals in the statistical output of the figures

E.g.: for a p-value of 0.05 it would be important to know whether the output was generated by rounding up or down

              • Forest plots footnotes

Allow more than 80 characters to be displayed from the footnotes when printing the forest plots of the review.
Currently the footnotes are cut after about 80 characters (RevMan 5.3.5) and the rest of the text is lost.

                  • Display studies not contributing data on forest plots

As an authors, I would like to highlight studies that did not report key outcomes by displaying those studies on the forest plot with no data (instead of the current zeroes - or maybe with just the n per group), so that my readers have a sense of the amount of missing data and the potential for selective reporting bias. This idea arose in a workshop at the Australasian Cochrane Symposium on risk of bias led by Julian Higgins.

                    • As an editor I would like the Risk of Bias figure to automatically add up the numbers of studies at high, low and unclear risk.

As an editor I would like the Risk of Bias figure to automatically add up the numbers of studies at high, low and unclear risk. This would save a lot of time when checking if what the authors have said in the text matches with the judgements they have made for each study in the risk of bias table attached to the Characteristics of Included studies table

                      • Grouping or multiple final boxes in PRISMA flow diagram

After going through the PRISMA flow diagram to remove duplicates, screening and assessing for eligibility, it would be a good idea if in the final box, the studies could be grouped that is, how many are RCTs, How many are observational, how many focused on a particular disease among other groupings.

Agreed by RAC/IKMD. Case number 121944.Comments: Toby: I like this idea. It might be a useful friendly back end of reviews! Rasmus: Cannot plot lin and log scales together. Training: Could be useful for display – need to make sure it’s not used instead of the full version, as it would be missing some info that’s key for interpretation, e.g. underlying study risk levels, heterogeneity, tests for subgroup difference, etc. Georgia: If we put a couple of constraints at place (e.g. only meta-analyses already displayed in full can be summarized, only meta-analyses of the same measure/scale etc) it would be very very useful!
